Green belt vets expansion plans The North Mymms Green Belt Society has visited the Royal Veterinary College in Hawkshead Lane to see first hand the plans to expand the site. The RVC wants to build a large animal clinical centre on the field between the Queen Mother Small Animal Hospital and the railway bridge. The North Mymms Green Belt Society has objected because the new buildings would be on Green Belt land and also because of the projected large increase in heavy traffic along Hawkshead Lane coming from Swanland Road. The society says this section of Hawkshead lane is narrow and twisty and completely unsuitable for heavy traffic. During the visit the society was shown round the College and staff explained what was proposed and what would be replaced. They were shown the plans which are on the RVC website, showing the area to be developed, drawings of the scale of the development and details of the case for supporting the plan. The North Mymms Green Belt Society's views are set out on its website December 10, 1999 Have your say Should the Royal Veterinary College expand into green belt land? Recent news:
