The area's top ten eyesores Do you know of any local environmental blackspots you want clearing up? If so, the district council wants to hear from you.Councillors are asking local residents to help identify the area’s ten worse eyesores in a campaign called ‘Pride of Place’. Welwyn and Hatfield District Council wants to find out the areas in most need of urgent attention and then go in and clean them up. The campaign is also being publicised and co-ordinated by the Welwyn Hatfield Times. Over the next two weeks local residents are being invited to suggest the areas worst affected by fly tipping, graffiti and abandoned cars. The council will then tackle the ten worst areas. Councillors say they will also look at the root causes of the problem and attempt to take action to tackle those too. You can nominate any local areas you feel should be in the top ten in this site’s Forum or you can e-mail Welwyn Hatfield Council’s environment director, David Irving at d.irving@welhat.gov.uk. You can also e-mail the WHT reporter who is covering the campaign, Ian Lawrence, at ian.lawrence@whtimes.co.uk September 5, 2002 |
