Friday Grove, Brookmans Park

Plans to build a country house on green belt land at Friday Grove in Brookmans Park are to go to a public inquiry, following an appeal by the owner of the land.

Neil Bedford is to challenge the decision by Welwyn Hatfield Council (WHC) to refuse planning permission for the erection of a new council house.

Anyone who wants to comment on the proposal is invited to write directly to the Planning Inspectorate, 3/04 Eagle Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Quay, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

The letter, sent out by WHC announcing the appeal, appears to have a typo which could confuse those wishing to contribute to the debate.

At one point, in the heading of the letter, WHC says the appeal starting date is 19 October 2006, but in the text of the letter it says that further representation have to be in within six weeks of the appeal starting date of 27 February 2006.

Clearly, those wishing to contribute to the debate need to get their comments in within six weeks of the starting date, which, if you go by the later of the dates, suggests the close would be the end of November.
