Rotary sponsors Christmas tree for second year
Brookmans Park Rotary Club has announced that it will once again be supporting a Christmas tree on the village green this year.
The tree will be prepared over the weekend 26/27 November, although the job has been made harder because, despite the best efforts of the council groundsmen, part of the stump of last year's tree is still in the hole, having been wedged in after the tree was chopped down.
The lights will be switched on around 6:30pm on Tuesday 29 November, with Bill Storey, chairman of North Mymms Parish Council and John Reid, chairman of Brookmans Park Rotary in attendance.
Everyone is welcome to attend the switching on of the lights and join in with the carol singing, which will be led by the lower school choir from Chancellors. Last year, around 200 people gathered on the green for the official switching on.
A collection will be made for charities supported by Rotary including the Isabel Hospice - Children and Teenage bereavement support.
