An application to erect a new country house on land at Friday Grove, also known as the 20-acre field, has been submitted to Welwyn Hatfield Council.

In July last year, Welwyn Hatfield Council turned down a previous planning application for a country house to be built on the land off Hawkshead Road.

Copies of the new application are available for inspection at the council's planning offices at The Campus, Welwyn Garden City.

Members of the public are able to view the plans from 9-5 Monday to Thursday and from 9-4.30 on Fridays.

Those wanting to discuss the application with the case officer should call Mr Borthwick on 01707-357249 to make an appointment.

Any comments should be made in writing to the Chief Planning and Environmental Health Officer, Mr Conway.

Any comments will be taken into account when the application is considered.

In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any representations made are a matter of public record and will be available for public inspection and copy.

The council has a public speaking scheme which allows applicants, and those who respond to notification about applications, to address the Planning Control Committee, if an application is to be determined by it.

Full details of the scheme are set out in a leaflet which is available from the Committee Administration Section (01707-357443) or from the reception at the Campus East offices.

When an earlier application was rejected on Thursday 29 July 2004, it was concluded that the building, on green belt land, should not go ahead.

Planning officers produced a 25-page report stating that there were no special circumstances to justify overturning green belt policies.

The chairman of North Mymms Parish Council, Bob Horrocks, who is also honorary secretary of the North Mymms District Green Belt Society, addressed the committee and explained the parish council's objections.
