WAGN planning 'normal' service for Monday

WAGN says it is planning a 'virtually normal' service from Monday May 20. The company says Railtrack is 'confident' of being able to re-open the line between New Barnet and Welwyn Garden City.

An update on the WAGN site, timed at 15:46 on Friday, May 17, says services should resume from Monday.

The WAGN statement says:

“Railtrack have advised us that they are confident of being able to re-open the line via New Barnet and Welwyn Garden City at the beginning of next week. As a result WAGN is planning a virtually normal service on its Great Northern Route from Monday 20 May.

“We are pleased that there are very real prospects for a return to a normal service from Monday 20 May. This does, of course, depend on Railtrack completing the repair work but they are confident that this should be the case.

“If, however, there are any last minute hitches we will have the information at stations and on our website, and we will ensure that CEEFAX and the radio stations are informed.

“A special timetable will remain in place, however, over the weekend while repair work is completed. We have done all we can to make this as comprehensive as possible in the circumstances.

“We would like to thank all our passengers for their patience and understanding and for bearing with us at this difficult time.”

End of WAGN statement.

More details are on the WAGN site, where there is a three page PDF file giving the main points of the changes and a 13-page PDF file containing a revised timetable.
