Potters Bar Crash - emergency travel plans

WAGN says the latest estimate from Railtrack is that the line through Potters Bar will be 'partially re-opened' on Monday, May 20. A special service will continue to operate throughout the week. Commuter trains to and from London will begin and end at New Barnet.

The WAGN website says there will be a substitute bus service operating between New Barnet and Welwyn Garden City calling at Hadley Wood, Potters Bar, Brookmans Park, Welham Green, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City.

The WAGN site does not say where these buses will stop, nor the frequency, but presumably, for Brookmans Park at least, it will be the bus stop nearest the station in the village, as was the case during the aftermath of the Hatfield train crash, although it appears from the forum that the service is not consistent.

Trains - New Barnet to London

An 05:40 and 06:00 will call at all stations to Kings Cross. From 06:20 the service will run into Moorgate every ten minutes until 09:00 and then every 15 minutes until 16:30. The sevice will then be every ten minutes until 20:00 and from 20:30 to 23:45 the trains will run to Kings Cross.

Trains - London to New Barnet

From 05:13 to 06:33 trains will start at Kings Cross calling all stations every 20 minutes. From 06:45 to 09:05 they will run from Moorgate every 10 minutes then between 09:20 to 15:55 the trains will run from Moorgate to New Barnet every 15 minutes then every ten minutes until 19:25, when they revert to every 15 minutes until 20:40 when Moorgate shuts. From 21:00 to 23:45 the trains will run between Kings Cross and Moorgate every 15 minutes.

More details are on the WAGN site, where there is a three page PDF file giving the main points of the changes and a 13 page PDF file containing a revised timetable.
