Appeal for witnesses to Water End death
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to an incident at The Old Maypole Pub, Water End, on Sunday 21 March, which resulted in the death of a Barnet man.
Hertfordshire police want to hear from anyone who saw anything leading up to the death of father of four Richard Hemstead.
A news release e-mailed to this site says Mr Hemstead, who was 47, was staying around the Welham Green area at the time of the incident.
He died at the QEII Hospital, Welwyn Garden City, at around 3am on Sunday, March 21.
A second victim, a 28 year old man, was also taken to the QEII having sustained severe facial injuries. He has since been treated and discharged.
Police had been called to The Old Maypole Pub in Warrengate Road, Water End, near Welham Green, earlier following reports of a disturbance.
Detective Chief Inspector Janet Molloy said that even though someone has been charged in connection with Mr Hemsteadís death, officers are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub on Saturday March 20, or Sunday, 21 March, to ring 01707 638102 if they saw or heard any form of disagreement.
Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A Welham Green man has been charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm to a second man.
