Open-door warning repeated

crime alert logo
Police have renewed their appeal to residents not to leave doors open during the hot weather.

Officers say there has been a significant increase in burglaries resulting from the thief gaining access through insecure back doors.

In Neighbourhood Watch recorded message number 122, Hertfordshire police say residents should keep all doors locked when in the garden and when inside the house.

They say there is a temptation during the hot weather to leave doors open, but that thieves are aware of this and look for homes offering such an invitation.

Police ask all residents to call their local police station (01707-638100) if they see anyone acting suspiciously.
