Police officers die in air crash
Police say the two officers were in their 40s, but they are not releasing the names until all family members have been informed. A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said their thoughts are with the families of the dead men. Close relatives are currently being comforted by family, friends, and police family liaison officers. The pilot of the helicopter was taken to the QEII hospital in Welwyn Garden City suffering from a broken leg, the passenger was taken to Barnet General with minor injuries. The Civil Aviation Authority and Hertfordshire Constabulary are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the crash, which happened just before 1300 yesterday in the Dixons Hill Road area of Welham Green.
