It is one of the UKs largest charities with more than 650 local branches and around 16,500 members.

The WEA believes that education is a lifelong goal and should continue beyond school, college and university in order to help people develop their potential in a democratic society. All members volunteer their time and efforts for the benefit of the WEA objectives.

The Brookmans Park WEA is a branch of the Workers' Educational Association, which is a registered charity, No. 314001. The branch chairperson is Patricia Cook.
