Fly tipping action plan

North Mymms Green Belt Society is calling on the local authority to take action to tackle fly tipping.

At the society’s last meeting, members discussed pictures, shown on this website, of household rubbish and old furniture dumped in the local countryside. click here to the pictures

They decided that the society should add its voice to concerns about the increase in fly tipping lately.

The society is planning to send the local authority a list of the most common fly tipping sites in North Mymms and is suggesting signs be erected warning people of the penalties if caught.

In order to compile the most comprehensive list, the society wants to hear from anyone who knows of areas that should be added.

Once the list is completed the details will be passed on to Welwyn Hatfield Council. Anyone who sees anyone fly tipping is urged to call the authority on 01707-357000 or, if the fly tipping is in the Hertsmere District, you should ring 020-8207-7480.

The Community Policing Unit at Hatfield Police station (01707 638100) would also like to hear from anyone who sees people flytipping.

There are several waste sites in the area where people can dump their rubbish free of charge, the main site being Cranborne Road in Potters Bar.
