Strong turnout urged for crime meeting
He wants people who are shopping in the village to encourage shop keepers to turn up and he wants everyone to tell their neighbours about the event.
The Brookmans Park and Little Heath Neighbourhood Watch Group is letting all its members know and the Welwyn Hatfield Times is expected to carry details next week.
The United Reformed Church, Bluebridge Road, has been booked for the meeting, which will start at 8 pm and finishing at 10 pm. There will be an opportunity for those attending to contribute to the cost of the hire of the hall and for the refreshments.
According to PC Dave, the purpose of the meeting is to enable the police and local residents to get to know each other and to "have a constructive discussion about local crime and community policing issues with the emphasis on preventing crime."
Writing in this site’s forum, he says he will not be able to answer questions about issues such as police numbers and response times. Those questions need to addressed by the Chief Constable of Hertfordshire Constabulary, he writes.
The meeting was arranged following concerns, expressed in this site's discussion forum, about the number of shop break-ins around Bradmore Green during January.
The news item about the meeting will be written using comments posted in the forum following the event. Anyone who attends the meeting is invited to log on afterwards and post their opinions in the local crime and community policing discussion currently running in the forum.
