The parish council is looking for suggestions about how it should spend the £500 prize money awarded to Brookmans Park after being named ICT village of the year for eastern England.

Brookmans Park was competing against villages from Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Essex.

Having already won the Hertfordshire title earlier this year, Brookmans Park was voted the top information communication technology village 2004 in the annual competition sponsored by Calor. Click here for the Calor news release.

According to the chairman of North Mymms Parish Council, Bob Horrocks, the two main reasons for the village carrying off the award were Chancellor’s school’s specialist school status in maths and computing, and this site.

The headmaster from the school, Stuart Phillips, and James Bentall, one of the team running this site, attended the awards ceremony in London.

Bob Horrocks now wants help deciding how to spend the prize money. There is a discussion thread running in this site's forum where you can post any ideas. Bob says it is a one-off award and the village is not eligable to enter again next year.
