WEA course details announced

Brookmans Park Workers' Educational Association (WEA) has released details of its three classes for 2002-2003. The three courses include; 'Literature: The seven ages of man', 'London architecture', and 'Historical characters in context 1600-2000'. Details below.

Literature: The seven ages of man
A look at the world through the eyes of childhood, youth, middle age and old age via novels exploring diverse social, cultural and political issues. Salley Vickers, 'Miss Garnet's Angel', Susan Hill 'I'm the king of the castle', Jane Gardam 'The queen of the tambourine', Doris Lessing 'Mara and Dann' and Karen Roberts 'July'.
Tutor: Margaret Greely
Duration: 20 weeks
Starting: September 30, 2002
Day and time: Mondays 1.30pm (90 mins)

London architecture
A new course in architectural history that looks at the buildings of London taking particular areas e.g. Hampstead, and themes e.g. building materials. It is aimed to help you look at buildings better and see more as you explore the capital.
Tutor: Madeline Edmead
Duration: 20 weeks
Starting: October 1, 2002
Day and time: Tuesdays 10am (2 hours)

Historical characters in context 1600-2000
A series of striking personalities will introduce themes from the history of Europe over the last four centuries. The themes will be political, cultural, scientific and philosophical, but underpinning everything will be accelerating economic change, including industrialisation and subsequent advances.
Tutor: Dr Victoria Cummins
Duration: 20 weeks
Starting: October 3, 2002
Day and time: Thursdays 10am (2 hours)

Classes are held in the lounge of the United Reformed Church, Bluebridge Road.

Fees: 2-hour classes, 20 weeks - 68 (concessions - 56), 90-mins classes, 20 weeks - 64 (concessions - 54)
