Local youth teams need players

Brookmans Park Under-13 youth team is threatened with closure because of a shortage of players.

The club, which has progressed from the minor league over the past few seasons, needs fresh blood if it is to be able to field a team for the 2002-2003 season.

Manager Rick Dyke has until Friday, August 23, to find a few more talented soccer-keen youngsters to make up the numbers.

The team plays most Sunday mornings or afternoons throughout the season and trains on Wednesday evenings at a floodlit astroturf pitch at Hertfordshire University.

Membership costs 75 a year which includes kit, training and the Sunday games.

If your child wants to join the team and is under 13 years old on September 1, 2002, please contact Rick on 01707-646515. Alternatively you can e-mail football.

Brookmans Park Youth under-11 team is also looking for new players for the coming season.

After a successful season last year in mini soccer the team is now moving to full 11 a-side and needs three or four new players to complete the squad

The under 11s play on Saturday mornings and train one evening a week. Players who were born after August 1991 are eligible to play for the team.

The manager for the under-11s is Rob McIver on 658226; you can also e-mail on football.

The issue has been raised in this site's Forum.
