History Society is 20 years old
The North Mymms Local History Society is celebrating its 20th anniversary with membership at an all-time high.
The society how has more than 120 members - almost three times the number it had two years ago.
One of the reasons for the growth in members is the wide variety of events the society organises. Details of the new programme are contained on the programme page.
And this year the society has been chosen to play host to the Hertfordshire Association for Local History.
That meeting will be held at the Royal Vet College in Hawkshead Lane on November 3.
There will be representatives from most of the local history societies in Hertfordshire, stalls selling books and a number of guest speakers. Lunch will be available and tickets are currently being sold by the society.
Anyone wanting to attend should contact secretary Marian Benton on 01707-655970.
The society has also just published its programme for the autum, winter and spring with a variety of events held monthly including talks on the history of Northaw, Cuffley, Codicote, the Cromer Windmill, the Lea Valley, De Havillands and Barnet. There will also be talks on photography and the history of surnames.
Full details of all the meetings and contacts are contained on the North Mymms Local History Society's Programme page.
