Youth club hopes dashed
Hertfordshire County Council has been unable to find the staff needed to re-open the local teenage youth club. It was thought the club, held at the North
Mymms Youth and Community Centre, might be able to operate again after the authority's youth service approved the funding for two replacement part-time workers. The club was closed last year when two of the part-time workers who had been at the
centre for more than 20 years had changes in their full time careers making it impossible
for them to continue. Hertfordshire CC was looking for two committed and enthusiastic people prepared to work with young
people aged 11 to 19 years, working Monday evenings, 19.00 -
22.00 hours. Anyone still interested can contact Phil Yugoda on 01920 888173. Former part-time youth worker and now a member of the centre's management committee
Martin Ferdinando was hoping staff would be found to enable the club to re-open: I am very keen to see a re-launch of the Youth Club. The young people of both Welham Green and Brookmans Park have been without a club for a
year now and talking to some of them recently, they clearly want to see it re-open," he said. Martin can be contacted via the web on youth The Junior Club, now re-named Club 2000 is still operating, although not running during the summer holidays, and has a waiting list for membership.
