'Well liked and respected' teacher dies

Brookmans Park school teacher Nancy Blatherwick has lost her long fight against cancer. Former school governor Jeremy Silverstone has sent a message to be put on this site to notify parents.

Jeremy wrote: “Although Nancy had only taught at the school for a year, she was very well liked and respected as an excellent teacher. Nancy showed enormous courage and determination in her battle to beat off her illness, and always had her pupils' interests at heart.

“Eventually however she decided to leave during the summer term in order to spend more time with her own family. She leaves a husband, Mark, and two children. We have sent flowers from the school.

“She was a delightful lady and a fine teacher, and will be sadly missed."

The funeral was at St Peter's Church in Bushey.
