Photographic history reprint available

Fresh from the printers, 500 copies of a photographic history of North Mymms for sale; reprinted due to popular demand.

A thousand copies of the 62-page book were snapped up in the autumn of 2002, just two weeks after going on sale.

The book, "North Mymms Pictures From the Past", is the latest work produced by the North Mymms Local History Society.

The photographic study of life in the parish took two years to compile and involved digging deep into the society’s archives, going through family photo albums and shoe boxes full of old snaps and postcards.

The book, which is reproduced in full on this site, includes almost 120 previously unpublished photographs grouped in several chapters looking at transport, the parish’s pubs, farming and people.

The North Mymms Local History Society (NMLHS) decided on a reprint following the massive demand for copies.

The first edition sold for only £2 a copy, but that was thanks to funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the North Mymms Parish Council.

The reprint will cost £4, but if you order it and want it sent to you, it will cost £4.75, including postage and packaging within the UK, and £5.50 if you live overseas.

But you will have to move fast, the first 1,000 copies went in two weeks and the NMLHS expects the reprint to go just as fast.
