'Appalling' parking creating 'serious danger'

The headteacher at Brookmans Park Primary says the parking of some parents outside the school appalls her.

Lesley Stevens has written to all parents following an incident on Friday morning, April 12 when the new head was on 'entrance duty'.

“I was appalled at the 12 parents who stopped their cars on the yellow zig zag lines outside the front entrance to the school to drop off their children.

“This poses a serious danger for those trying to cross the road and increases the traffic congestioin as cars stack up behind them,” she wrote.

She ends the note by calling on all parents to keep everyone's children safe.

The Highway Code is clear on the issue and says that between the yellow zig zag lines outside a school drivers should, "Keep entrance clear of stationary vehicles, even if picking up or setting down children".
