Graduates and jobs
« on: February 07, 2007, 09:42:35 pm »
Media graduate Vicky Anscombe is about to start work as a debt collector. She's still writing and trying to break into journalism, but it's not easy.  On a recent visit to see her Brookmans Park family, Vicky spoke about the difficulties she is facing in finding a job to match her skills.

Vicky kindly offered to write about her hunt for the perfect job for this site's features section. You can read her report 'What do we do now?' in the features section.

Anyone who has a similar expererience is welcome to add their thoughts to this thread.

Interesting article.

I think the point that comes across to me is that unless you do a degree that is in demand, it won't necessarily help you get a job.

Unfortunately the government, in their attempts to get 50% of people to do degrees, have ended up with people doing pretty worthless degrees in all sorts of subjects that are simply of little use to the needs of the business community.
